Why farm and livestock guardian dogs were targeted: because they protected private farmers and shepherds, the rural independent class that stood in the way of collectivized food control.
Why pets and hunting dogs were also removed: they were labeled “bourgeois luxuries” or symbols of self-reliance, both seen as threats to a system built on dependence and centralized power.
My dogs aren’t “pets,” they’re family. They’re loyal protectors, but make no mistake: when it comes down to it, I’ll be the one standing between them and anything that threatens them.
